Simplifying a Complex Process
When a person passes away far from their homeland, the administrative burdens can be overwhelming. At Grupo Funerarias Costa del Sol, we have a specialized international repatriation department, coordinating direct transfers to any country in the world.
We handle all communication with consulates and embassies in Spain, swear translations of documents, obtain the official mortuary passport, and manage health permits from the Ministry of Health.
We strictly comply with the guidelines of the Strasbourg Agreement and the Berlin Agreement for the cross-border transport of deceased persons.
Repatriation Phases:
- 1. Certificates & Registration: Obtaining the Medical Death Certificate and registering it with the Civil Registry to issue the official Death Certificate.
- 2. Sanitary Preservation: Embalming or tanatopraxia, which is strictly required by international airlines and sanitary regulations.
- 3. Special Hermetic Coffin: Supply of an export-grade coffin with a double container (outer wood box and inner zinc box hermetically soldered and equipped with a gas release valve).
- 4. Air Logistics: Booking cargo space on scheduled commercial flights and coordinating customs clearance at the origin and destination airports.

Transfer of Ashes:
